County Law library Bill (SB 345) introduced and referred to Senate Committee

Senator David Goodman (R-Columbus) has introduced a bill which would make changes to Ohio’s County Law Libraries system.  Senate Bill 345 would create a county law library resources board in each county; create a statewide consortium of county law library resources boards; provide that each county law library resources board is responsible for coordinating legal research and reference material for county offices, courts, and county departments; create the county law library resources fund and the statewide consortium of county law library resources boards fund; and reconstitute the Task Force on Law Library Associations.

The bill was referred to the Senate Finance and Financial Institutions Committee on 6/10/2008.  No hearings have been held on the bill since the General Assembly is on summer break.  The full text of the bill and the list of current cosponsors is available online at http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=127_SB_345
