Heidelberg University’s Beeghly Library has an immediate opening for a Reference and Instruction Librarian.  This position is an integral part of a three-person, reference department serving undergraduate and masters’ level students.

The candidate will participate in providing reference and research assistance using electronic and traditional sources as well as incorporating the latest technologies and teaching methods, with the goal of further developing an information literacy program.  The staff anticipates expansion of virtual reference services including IM, LibGuides, course management systems, and other tools. The reference librarian will collaborate with the other public service librarians, and the Director of the Academic Success Center in designing the program, expanding outreach, delivering services, and evaluating outcomes.  Additional duties may include some interlibrary loan, web site maintenance, and collection development including reference and electronic sources, and other tasks as assigned. The position requires evening and weekend reference desk duty on a rotating basis.

Beeghly Library is a member of the OhioLINK and OPAL Ohio library consortia, providing access to more than 47 million items, 140 research databases, and thousands of electronic journals.

Qualifications:
·         ALA accredited MLS or MLIS
·         Experience providing reference service and/or relevant coursework
·         Knowledge of traditional and electronic reference sources
·         Aptitude for developing and teaching information literacy classes
·         Experience with web technologies and social networking in an educational context

·         Familiarity with assessment methods and processes
