General Manager – Branch Libraries
Fulltime (37.5 hours), possible evening and weekend hours; not job-share eligible
Salary: Range begins at $59,377.50 (annualized); $2,283.75 bi-weekly
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs a variety of administrative duties as related to the management of the branch libraries. Develops general and detailed plans for administering the day-to-day
operations of the branches. Participates in the selection process for all branch library professionals and substitutes. Provides direction, motivation and supervision to the branch library managers. Supervises the development of the branch libraries’ programs, services and collection development. Compiles statistical information for branch libraries. Participates in the budgeting process. Develops and maintains relationships with community groups and organizations. Work requires the ability to think creatively and work independently, using sound professional judgment in decision making.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Candidates will possess a Master of Library and Information Science degree issued from an accredited School of Library and Information Science. Extensive professional experience at the library manager level or above required. Extensive experience in the field of public librarianship required. Ohio Public Librarian Certification preferred. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a comprehensive and broad knowledge of the principles and practices of library science as they apply to the management of public libraries. A demonstrated comprehensive and broad knowledge of customer service and of books, authors and library materials as applied to public librarianship is required. Candidate must demonstrate an ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with professionals, community groups and organizations and customers.
