Combined with the Ohio competencies developed by the Ohio Library Council, these courses provide knowledge and skills to increase on-the-job effectiveness in tailored, personal learning plans using self-paced, online courses which include:
Budget & Funding
Law, Policies & Procedures
Staff Training & Development
Trustees and Friends
Access is simple. Visit the WJOH website oh.webjunction.org and log in using your WJOH account, select the “Course Catalog” tab, then select the competencies tab.
Well-written policies and procedures, based on sound legal footings, help all levels of staff to be consistent in their relationships with patrons, colleagues and other stakeholders.
Productive performance by its personnel is the backbone of a successful library. Whether or not you prefer the term Human Resources Management, the strategic oversight of your workforce is key to achieving the library’s mission and goals.
A coherent overall plan that aligns with the library’s goals and community needs will help the library provide successful programs and services.
Individual courses can be selected under each sub-category. For example, under Facilities, the following courses are available:
· Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
· Computer Ergonomics
· Keeping Your Library Looking Good
· Merchandising That Works
In addition, there are related resources that you can choose from for each category. In this case:
· Guide to Facilities Resources
· Guide to Space Planning Resources
