The Massillon Public Library began bookmobile service in June of 2002 with a renovated used bookmobile. The service proved to be successful, but within a few years it was obvious that the old bus was near death, so the library began a fundraising drive to purchase a new bookmobile. Thanks to numerous grants and generous community support our new bus went on the road in August of 2006. We serve all segments of our population from preschoolers to seniors at 46 stops spread over two weeks, and carry a collection that includes books for all ages, audio books, DVD's, CD's, magazines and comics. A storyteller comes along to do short programs at our early childhood locations once a month. We participate in several parades each year as well as the annual Funfest. In 2011 we rewarded summer reading club winners from our fixed locations with a bookmobile party at their homes. Our outreach department also offers deposit collections to institutions and home delivery to individuals.
