Troubleshooting E-Resource Access
December 12, 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
As library staff members, one of the most difficult phrases to hear ourselves say has to be “I can’t help you with that.” But with more and more of the content we provide to our communities coming in the form e-resources, it can be confusing and overwhelming to assist patrons having trouble accessing those materials. Content can come from a variety of sources like a state-wide contract, a consortial agreement, or a subscription for a single system or location. It can be accessible only to on-site users or available for patrons logging in from anywhere. In this session, we’ll discuss the variety of content available, including recent changes to the list of resources available to all libraries around the state thanks to Libraries Connect Ohio, as well as tips on what pieces of information you need to gather to help resolve an access problem, who you should contact, and how to follow-up to ensure the issue is resolved.
