The State Library of Ohio and Ohioana Library Association, with the Ohio Center for the Book, hosted the Floyd’s Pick Book Award Reception on July 13, 2022. Floyd’s Pick Book Award winners were honored for years 2020 – 2022. Tracy Subisak (2022) and Aiko Ikegami (2021) accepted their awards at the reception. Oge Mora (2020) was unable to attend. Honor books selected for years 2020 – 2022 were also celebrated. Loren Long was recognized as the first recipient of the Floyd’s Pick Award in 2016. Loren has the distinct honor of having a total of five of his illustrated picture books selected for Floyds Pick and Choose to Read Ohio booklists combined.

The Floyd’s Pick Book Award is given annually to a book written by an Ohio author or illustrated by an Ohio illustrator that is representative of high-quality literature created for children. Receptions honoring Floyd’s Pick awardees were postponed in 2022 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The award was developed by the Choose to Read Ohio Advisory Council under the State Library of Ohio in partnership with the Ohioana Library Association and the Ohio Center for the Book.
