In collaboration with the InnovateOhio Platform, the State Library of Ohio recently streamlined access for state of Ohio employees to digital library resources through myOhio.gov.

Previously, access to the State Library’s digital resources was limited to the library’s website and required state employees to have a library card. “We recognized this method placed our services in a silo, out of reach of many State employees,” said State Librarian Beverly Cain. “With this new collaboration, State employees will now be able to access these resources using their OH|ID Workforce User ID.”

The “State Library Catalog” app is listed among applications under the MY WORKSPACE section of myOhio.gov Clicking the app launches the catalog, allowing access for state employees to the following resources with or without a library card:

  • Journal and magazine articles.
  • Data and statistical resources.
  • Federal and State of Ohio government publications.
  • Legal and news resources.

By authenticating through the InnovateOhio Platform, the State Library of Ohio can offer users a customer-centric, single sign-on experience to quickly and easily access the wealth of library resources available online. State employees will still need to register for a library card to borrow physical items such as books, DVDs, and circulating government publications.

The InnovateOhio Platform, established by Executive Order 2019-15D, is a key component of the InnovateOhio vision to help state agencies improve service delivery through customer-centric thinking. More information about the InnovateOhio Platform is available on the InnovateOhio website.
