Nexis Uni logo and text "State of Ohio Employees now have access" with a list of content in database
October 3, 2022

The State Library of Ohio now provides Nexis Uni access to state employees with an OH|ID. Nexis Uni (formerly LexisNexis Academic) includes comprehensive coverage of news and current events, government, business, medical, and legal topics, as well as general reference information. Sources found in Nexis Uni are international and domestic newspapers, magazines and trade journals, broadcast transcripts (NPR, ABC News, CBS News, and CNN), company financial information, industry and market news, federal and state case law, law reviews, medical news and abstracts, and state and country profiles. Nexis Uni has business information on over 80 million U.S. and international companies and 75 million executives. Non-English language news sources are available in Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Dutch. Campus news from some 400 college/university papers and over 50 wire services are also available.

An easy-to-use search engine delivers relevant content that makes research more efficient, and provides personalization, discovery, and collaboration features. Registering for an account and setting up an individual profile facilitates an option to create a customized homepage for more focused research. Registering also supports saving searches, bookmarking documents for later viewing, and creating and managing alerts for automated searches to run at specified intervals.

Nexis Uni hosts live webinars and has a vast array of introductory videos and detailed instructions on their help page. State Library reference staff are also available to help. We offer on-site, phone, website chat box, email, one-on-one online appointments, and reference form communications to our patrons. Contact us and/or view our video tutorials and research help guides.

State employees do not need a library card to access library databases such as Nexis Uni. However, a State Library card is needed to borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines from the Ohio Digital Library, and physical items such as books, DVDs, and circulating government publications from the State Library and OhioLINK member libraries.

Looking for a good book? Each month a list of books recently added to our collection is available on our website.
